COVID-19 UPDATE:

With regard to the latest information involving COVID-19, T. Smith Law Firm has no current plans to close.  However, we continue to remain committed and vigilant in protecting the health and safety of our clients, employees and visitors.

We are committed to following the guidance provided by the CDC guidelines.

  1. Smith Law Firm has increased the frequency of our cleaning schedule in our lobby, closing room, bathrooms and employee areas with disinfecting spray and wipes. In addition, we have concentrated cleaning efforts to common areas that have high contact surfaces like chairs, tables, counters, restrooms and door handles.

With regard to the real estate closing process, we are requesting that only the necessary signers attend closing.  We are requesting that real estate agents and lenders not attend closing so that we can limit the number of people.  Checks and other essential documents will be mailed via overnight to those parties not in attendance.

In addition, we are scheduling closings so that the buyer(s) and seller(s) will sign separately as opposed to sitting at the same table, again, in order to limit contact.

We are providing each party with a new personal pen at closing.  Blue ink is required so if you wish to bring your own pen, make sure it is a blue ink pen.

Hand sanitizer is also available for all parties’ use during this time.

If any essential party to the closing wishes to discuss mail away options, or power of attorney options, we are happy to discuss this and assist you with those requests.  Further, there is now an option for a “virtual” closing via video conference.  We have the capability using the Zoom application to video conference with you and review and sign closing documents.  Please keep in mind that you will also need this capability in your home if you choose this option.  Parties will need a computer, printer and, possibly, scanner (depending on the lender situation).

As always, we are here to assist in any way possible during this difficult time.  As the situation evolves, we will continue to keep you posted on any necessary changes or revisions to our policy.

Thank you and be safe!
